PostSubject: Averbie - Protection Warrior   Averbie - Protection Warrior Icon_minitimeMon Apr 28, 2008 2:50 pm

Character Name

Class: Warrior
Race: Tauren
Level: 70

1. Date of Birth and Age

I was born the 14th of October of 1988, therefore I am currently aged 19.

Where do you live?

I live in a village near Barcelona, in Spain. Even though I was born in Spain, I know how to write, speak fluenlty, and understand Spanish, Catalan, Russian, English and I know some (not much) German. My Geographical situation does not have harsh influences on my "ms" as I am always between the 40-160 ms range. Despite that, there's always the random disconnect (not always) once in a while (one time a week or so) or, of course, the well-known server fuck ups.

3. Work / Education / Other commitments that effect your playtime:

I am currently studying at the UAB, in Barcelona (University), and my classes start at 8:15 and end at 16:00 usually. We have a 2 hour break somewhere in the middle for lunch. It takes me around 45 minutes to get home, but as, from own experience, I cant just log in and begin the raid, as I have to repair from previous raids, stack consumables, refresh tactics if needed, sort other things in game, and, do a quick daily if there's still time left for that extra bit of money income which is always appreciated. On fridays I end slightly earlier and on Thursdays and Wednesdays I have some things to sort out, normally, and therefore I arrive home somewhat late most of the times. I live with my parents and little brother, but they shouldn't be an issue and they usually ignore me when it comes to WoW, computers and my timetables. I have a poor Social Life because I'm too hooked to WoW and I don't usually go out a lot with my friends on weekends, so I pretty much spend my free time either playing wow or studying.

5. "PvE Role"

I love to raid. I tried raiding with all of my alts and I enjoy it a lot on all of them. What holds me back from continuing with my Hunter, which was my main not so long ago, is that it's quite boring to be a damage dealer in raids, as the only thing I did was spamm the same macro 5 hours a day untill I broke the key I was pressing thousands of times per day and had to bind it to another key. It's not interesting to just stand there and press a key while yawning "How Boring". Because of that, I decided, after many hours of thinking, to play my Warrior again. Playing a Warrior is rather interesting from my point of view. You have to be very aware of what are you doing, press the correct keys in the correct order and of course the correct moment, while keeping an eye on the enviorment and the threat meter. It is more challenging than playing a damage dealer class in my opinion and that's why I find tanking the task which suits me more, because it's far from boring and I enjoy it. I find assisting to raids when not enjoying the role you perform a loss of time and it will most likely end bad. That's why I chose to specc deep into Protection, as it's the best tree when it comes to mitigation, avoidance and threat per second. While creating my Warrior, I had in mind speccing him into Protection, and although I enjoy the PvP aspect which is offered to me while playing a Warrior, I prefere the PvE one, while playing as Protection, and I mainly focused in getting all the gear which suits me best for that role. I think the Protection talents help me acomplish my role in a PvE enviorment because they are designed by Kalgan ( YES THE SAME FUCKER THAT NERFED WINDFURY ) that way and I can't do anything about it.

I'm Currently specc'ed 10/5/46.

I chose this talent specc because I think it's the most suitable for tanking.
Bloodrage is not a must but it's a very good talent for that initial shield slam on complicated pulls or on taunt immune mobs such as bosses. Anticipation is a must, as I don't socket my gear with defense rating gems because I find it rather useless after you've reached the 490 defense barrier. Toughness is a must because 10% more armour is good as each time you get a melee hit you mitigate damage if it's not avoided. Although the increase may be little, as armor scales really badly, unfortunately, it's still worth it. Shield specialization is a really nice talent because an increased 5% block chance is always good to mitigate some damage and to avoid those crushing blows if they slip in somehow on bosses who hit fast like Leotheras the Blind or Prince Malechezzar. Last Stand is a good talent as its a "OH FUCK" button which is always off Cooldown and can save a wipe, and therefore, time. Improved Shield Block is also nice as some additional rage when you block is always nice. Defiance is just awesome. 15% more threat and 6 expertise rating are just awesome. Improved sunder armour is not a must but it's good for threat generation on trash where you have to administrate your rage wisely in order to offer the maximum tps possible so the dpsers can dps freely. Improved taunt is not such a good talent, but I've been tanking loads of heroics lately and it's a nice talent to have as PuGS are PuGs. Concussion blow is a good talent. I like it because you can stun the target which the dpsers are dpsing (the skull mostly) and build threat on other targets, then, come back, and taunt it. Works wonders. In addition, it gives acces to shield slam. Need i say more? Shield mastery is good, as it mitigates extra damage each time you block which is nice. One handed weapon specialitzation is quite nice because threat generation is essential and if you generate little tps, the dpsers cant dps freely, the fight lasts longer, healers go out of mana, and it's a wipe. Shield slam is awesome, generates shitloads of threat. Best talent in protection tree in my opinion. Vitality increases your hp, and therefore increases your survavility. Devastate is also godly as it generates more threat than Sunder Armour and it's a nice spammable ability on bosses in addition to Heroic Strike.

Cruelty is awesome because it adds that extra crit which boosts your threat up a bit and is always nice.

Deflection is a very nice talent. 5% more parry is awesome as it reduces the time of your next swing by an interesting %, and it avoids incoming damage. Improved Thunderclap is godly. It's awesome for damage reduction as nearly all bosses can be affected by Thunderclap. It also generates decent threat on the targets it effects.
Improved Heroic Strike is not a must but it's a good addition to have. On bosses I spamm Heroic Strike in addition to a Shield Slam, Revenge, Devastate along with Shield block and it adds nice TPS.

I'm open to suggestions to modify this talent specc. For example, put some points in improved defensive stance for fights like Hydross, Al'Ar, Kael'Thas, Mother Shadowress, or those Banshees in the hyjal waves etc. Improved shield wall can be also nice, but I'd rather take improved Heroic Strike.

My TPS Rotation is:

Shield Slam - Revenge (If Up) - Devastate - Devastate - Shield Slam (If i Didn't use Revenge) - Devastate....

I don't usually keep shield block on trash as I have a 75 % chance to avoid being crushed by a level 73 mob, and I think TPS is more important on trash than damage mitigation or avoidance. (There are some mobs though like those Bog Lord cunts in SSC which hit hard and mitigating damage is important there). I spamm it on bosses which can crush (I won't use it on Azgalor as an example). I do though, spamm Heroic Strike as it doesn't inflict my GCD for extra threat on bosses who hit quite decently or trash in which I can be sure that I will have a constant rage income.

My stats in both of my gears (in case armory is down):

----- Stamina Gear
15912 HitPoints
15583 Armour
499 Defense
18.44% Dodge Chance
15.96% Parry Chance
27% Block Chance
1089 Stamina
268 Strength
142 Agility
726 Attack Power
10.44% Crit Chance
16 Expertise Rating
39 Hit Rating

--- Dodge Gear

15135 HitPoints
14817 Armour
517 Defense
22.47% Dodge
16.68% Parry
27.71% Block
1015 Stamina
268 Strength
142 Agility
726 Attack Power
10.44% Crit Chance
6 Expertise
0 Hit Rating

If the armory is down I'd prefere to link my gear to someone ingame, but I have no issues in linking it through wowhead on theese forums.

16. Have you applied elsewhere?

No

17. Do you know anybody in IE?

Sakal

18. Why would you like to join IE?

As I stated above I'm looking for a serious guild with people who can focus when needed, have a laugh when needed, and be kind when needed. I dislike rudeness but I appreciate critcism a lot and I think that criticism is a very important aspect while raiding. I dislike harsh criticism without reasons, but as I said before, I appreciate polite criticism with a constructive idea and suggestion. I may be aiming a bit quite high with my current level of gear, but the guilds at a bit lower progression are not the type of guilds I am searching for, as they are more of a relaxed, social guild in which there are social members spamming crap in guildchat all day long and explaining their life.

19. Additional Information.

I'm a pretty oldschool player. I have been around since the times where Curse Of Agony lasted 90 seconds and warlocks were the worse class ingame untill now, having some emo breaks now and then, but I keep coming back. I know most classes inside out and I love to theorycraft. I enjoy reading forums and learning by doing it. I read WoW forums on a regular basis, I use warrior spreadsheets when comparing 2 items and I never, never, equip an item because "I think it's better". I'm the type of person who will not equip something unless it is proven to him that it is better. I use lots of AddOns to enhance my gameplay and utility in raids, as I have a pretty decent computer:

ADM Athlon (TM) 6400+ 64 X2 Dual Core
nVidia GT XFX 8800
4 GB Of RAM

Therefore I am in most cases over 50 FPS with max resolution and definition. I keybind most abilities as I think Keybinds are the way to go and Clicking spells is lame and can lead to confusion and loss of time, money, and lots of other things.

Installed Mods:
Deadly Boss Mods
BigWigs
Omen
Ktm
Void Reaver Alarm
Prat
oRa2
Grid
PoM Tracker
Loads of AddOns more. I'm a big fan of them, really helpfull, and thankfully my computer can allow loads of AddOns without lagging.

I have a very flexible timetable and I can fit most raids in. In my last guild I had a 93% of attendance over a period of 6 months. I'm always up for anything and I don't mind helping people out with quests, instances, or any other tasks.

I have a stable 20 MB connection which allows me to enhance even more my gameplay with a decent User-Server communication..

I have no issues in changing my gems, enchants, etc. if I get asked to. I also have no issues in changing my specc to a better one if I get asked to do so.

I have a half-decent PvP/dps set. I have no issue providing a link to it.
